Day 1: Kolkata

Arrival in Kolkata. Transfer to hotel.

Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal. It was once the capital of British India. Today, it is famous for colonial buildings, art, culture, and festivals. It is also home to Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity.

Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 2: Kolkata → Bodhgaya (Train – 6h45)

Breakfast
Transfer to railway station and travel to Bodhgaya.

Bodhgaya is a famous religious place where Buddha attained enlightenment.

Lunch

Sightseeing in Bodhgaya:

• Mahabodhi Temple (UNESCO site where Buddha got enlightenment)
• Big Buddha Statue (80 ft tall statue)
• Sujata Temple (place where Sujata offered food to Buddha)

Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3: Bodhgaya → Rajgir → Nalanda → Bodhgaya (200 km / 4h)

Breakfast
Drive to Nalanda and Rajgir.

Sightseeing:

• Nalanda University (ancient Buddhist university)
• Xuanzang Memorial (Chinese traveler who studied here)
• Rajgir (ancient capital of Magadha)
• Venuvan (first monastery given to Buddha)
• Vulture Peak (Buddha’s meditation place)
• Swarna Bhandar (ancient caves, believed treasure place)
• Bimbisar Jail (place where king was imprisoned)

Lunch

Return to Bodhgaya.
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Bodhgaya → Varanasi (275 km / 6h)

Breakfast
Drive to Varanasi.

Varanasi is one of the oldest cities and spiritual capital of India.

Lunch

Visit:

• Sarnath (place where Buddha gave first sermon)
• Evening Ganga Aarti (spiritual ceremony on Ganges River)

Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Varanasi → Kushinagar (230 km / 7h)

Early morning boat ride on the Ganges River.
Breakfast

Drive to Kushinagar (place where Buddha attained Nirvana).

Sightseeing:

• Mahaparinirvana Temple (death place of Buddha)
• Nirvana Stupa
• Ramabhar Stupa (cremation place of Buddha)

Lunch
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kushinagar → Lumbini (225 km / 5h)

Breakfast
Drive to Lumbini (Nepal).

Lumbini is the birthplace of Buddha.

Sightseeing:

• Maya Devi Temple (main birthplace temple)

Lunch
Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Lumbini → Kathmandu (272 km / 8h)

Breakfast
Drive to Kathmandu (capital of Nepal).

Lunch

Sightseeing:

• Kumari Ghar (house of living goddess)
• Kasthamandap Temple

Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Kathmandu → Return Flight

Breakfast

Sightseeing:

• Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)

Lunch

Transfer to airport for flight.
