Yoga & Meditation Retreat in Uttarakhand 08D/07N

Yoga, Spirituality, Wellness β€” from Delhi to the sacred banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh, the Yoga Capital of the World.

Why This Journey

Where the Ganges Meets the Himalayas

Rishikesh earned its title as the "Yoga Capital of the World" for good reason: this is the point where the Ganges leaves the Himalayas and enters the plains, a threshold that has drawn sages, ascetics and seekers for thousands of years and, more recently, everyone from the Beatles to first-time yoga students. This 8-day retreat moves from the layered history of Delhi to the sacred waters of Haridwar and the quiet mountain town of Uttarkashi before settling into an ashram stay in Rishikesh itself β€” a rhythm of travel and stillness designed to let the practice deepen day by day.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

1Day

Arrival in Delhi

Welcome to India! Upon arrival in Delhi, transfer to your hotel. New Delhi, the capital of India, offers a fascinating blend of history, culture, and modern life. After lunch, embark on a sightseeing tour exploring some of Delhi's most iconic monuments: the majestic Red Fort, the grand Jama Masjid, and the India Gate war memorial. Continue to the Presidential Residence (Rashtrapati Bhavan), Parliament House, and the world-famous Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Why Delhi matters: Delhi has served as a seat of power for empires spanning two thousand years, from the Delhi Sultanate to the Mughals and the British Raj. The Qutub Minar, begun in 1193, is the world's tallest brick minaret and marks the start of that long history of dynasties building their capital on this same ground.
2Day

Delhi / Haridwar (Train) / Uttarkashi

After breakfast, transfer to the train station for your journey to Haridwar. This ancient city, located where the Ganges River leaves the Himalayas, is one of Hinduism's most sacred pilgrimage sites. Visit the Har Ki Pauri ghat and witness the famous Ganga Aarti ceremony. Afterward, depart for Uttarkashi, a peaceful town surrounded by mountains and spiritual energy. Visit the sacred Lord Vishwanath Temple, a site known for its powerful vibrations. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Why Haridwar matters: Haridwar is one of the four sites of the Kumbh Mela, the world's largest peaceful religious gathering, held here roughly every twelve years. Har Ki Pauri ghat is believed to mark the exact spot where drops of the mythical nectar of immortality fell, making the evening Ganga Aarti one of the most attended rituals in India.
3Day

Uttarkashi

Begin your day with an energizing yoga session followed by breakfast. Take part in a discussion about yoga and its ancient philosophy. After lunch, enjoy meditation and an afternoon yoga practice to deepen your awareness and inner calm. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Why Uttarkashi matters: Uttarkashi sits on the banks of the Bhagirathi River and has long been considered a gateway town for Himalayan pilgrims heading further to Gangotri and Yamunotri. Its relative quiet compared to Rishikesh has made it a favored base for longer meditation retreats and mountaineering expeditions alike.
4Day

Uttarkashi / Rishikesh (150 km / 3 hrs)

After breakfast, drive to Rishikesh, known as the "Yoga Capital of the World." Located on the banks of the holy Ganges River, Rishikesh is surrounded by the tranquil foothills of the Himalayas. The town is dotted with temples, ashrams, and meditation centers. After lunch, settle into your ashram for a peaceful stay. Dinner and overnight at the ashram.

Why Rishikesh matters: Rishikesh's reputation as the Yoga Capital of the World was cemented internationally in 1968 when the Beatles studied Transcendental Meditation at an ashram here, but the town's role as a center for yoga and Vedanta study goes back centuries earlier, with sages drawn to the spot where the Ganges exits the Himalayan foothills.
5Day

Rishikesh

Start your day with a yoga session followed by a theory class exploring yoga's spiritual foundations. After lunch, continue with meditation and yoga sessions in the afternoon. In the evening, witness the magical Ganga Aarti ceremony on the riverbanks β€” a spiritual ritual of light and devotion. Dinner and overnight stay at the ashram.

Why the Ganga Aarti matters: The evening Aarti performed on Rishikesh's ghats β€” floating oil lamps, chanting and bells offered to the river β€” is rooted in the Hindu belief that the Ganges is itself a goddess, Ganga, who descended to earth to purify humanity. The ceremony has been performed nightly for generations and remains one of the most photographed spiritual rituals in India.
6Day

Rishikesh

Begin your day with yoga and a theory session to enhance your understanding of the practice. After lunch, attend additional yoga and meditation classes to deepen your connection with body and mind. Dinner and overnight stay at the ashram.

Why this immersion matters: Traditional yoga teaching in India follows a gurukul model of daily, cumulative practice rather than isolated classes β€” the philosophy behind spending consecutive days in the same ashram rather than sampling different studios, allowing postures, breathwork and meditation to build on one another.
7Day

Rishikesh / Haridwar / Delhi (Train)

After breakfast, transfer to Haridwar railway station and board your train to Delhi. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure β€” you may explore local markets or simply relax at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Delhi.

Why this stage matters: The return journey retraces the Ganges downstream from its mountain exit at Haridwar to the plains, a fitting close to a week spent at the river's source region before re-entering Delhi's urban rhythm.
